Barrett’s Birth Story 🤍

April 15, 2026

After two weeks of trying every gentle nudge in the book to convince Barrett to make his grand entrance on his own, it became clear he was quite comfortable right where he was.

So on April 15th, we lovingly let him know…

his lease was up, and it was officially eviction day 😄✨

At 6:00 AM, Jaclyn arrived at the hospital feeling calm, prepared, and ready to meet her baby boy.

By 6:50 AM, Pitocin was started to encourage labor. We started at the lowest dose of 2ml

It was then increased gradually by 2 mL every hour, allowing her body to ease into contractions.

At her 8:00 AM cervical check, she was:

• 3 cm dilated

• 50% effaced

• Baby at -2 station

Contractions had started but were still very manageable. Jaclyn even joked,

“I’m waiting for it to hurt!” 😂

By 10:00 AM, as Pitocin continued to increase, contractions became more regular, coming every few minutes and mimicking early labor.

At 11:00 AM, in true “labor but make it cozy” fashion, there was a quick Starbucks run — a matcha latte and a cheese danish… truly a brunch of champions ☕🤍

At 11:20 AM, her next cervical check showed:

• 4 cm dilated

• 70% effaced

She was still feeling strong, moving through contractions with ease, and staying active. Around this time, her parents stopped by briefly to check in and offer encouragement.

By 1:30 PM, she had progressed to:

• 4 cm

• 80% effaced

• Baby still at -2

Mama was a bit disappointed that she had not dilated more but we assured her that Effacement was the magic number and Dilation would quickly happen after she thinned.

By around 2:00 PM, Pitocin had reached 20 mL, helping establish a strong, consistent labor pattern.

She passed a large blood clot, which shifted her focus a bit, but all out of concern for Barrett, but he continued to look great, and there was no ongoing concern. Jaclyn remained grounded and focused, even humming along to worship music through contractions, a steady, peaceful presence as labor continued to build.

As contractions intensified, she began to vocalize more, leaning into each wave.

Collin was incredible throughout, offering constant encouragement, hands-on support, and counterpressure right when she needed it.

He also took on his role with full focus, timing contractions with precision and holding the fan like a true professional, completely locked in on keeping Jaclyn comfortable through every wave. If everyone approached their responsibilities with that level of dedication, the world might run a little smoother 😂

A true 10/10 birth partner 💪✨ would hire again 😜

At 2:50 PM, everything shifted:

• 7 cm dilated

• Fully effaced

At this point:

• Her water was broken

• Pitocin was reduced to 10 mL

• Pressure began building quickly

Jaclyn had not originally planned on an epidural, but as she entered transition and the intensity quickly increased, she briefly considered it, her body, however, had other plans. Labor progressed so rapidly that by the time fluids were started, it was already time to push. By 3:15 PM, she began pushing at around 8 cm. Her body took over, and labor moved fast. Within minutes, she progressed to complete, working through a few different positions as baby made his way down.

At 3:38 PM, after an incredibly powerful and rapid transition,

Baby Barrett was born 🕊️

• 7 pounds 8 ounces

• 20 inches long

From the time contractions became intense to the moment she held her baby, it was just about 2 hours — a strong, fast, delivery.

She went from 7 cm to delivery in roughly 30 minutes — an incredible, whirlwind ending to a beautifully steady beginning.

After his arrival, it was discovered that Barrett had a true knot in his umbilical cord a quiet reminder of just how strong and steady he had been throughout the entire journey.

The Heart of the Story 🤍

Mama labored with strength, calm, and deep trust in her body and her support system. Every "i don't know what to do, was followed by her moving into a new position naturally and telling us what she needed or didn't like. She stayed present, supported, and steady every step of the way. This was one of the most naturally progressing inductions I’ve ever witnessed. Her body responded beautifully to each increase, never becoming overwhelmed or falling into stacked contractions.

Mama advocated for herself every step of the way, and in the moments where doubt tried to creep in, we slowed down, talked through every option, and found a path forward that felt right to her.

She didn’t just go through labor… she worked with it.

And that made all the difference.

Barrett may have taken his time getting started…

but when he decided it was time, he made his entrance fast, powerful, and unforgettable!

Happy Birthday Barrett 👣

Be still baby # 6
