Eleanor Mae's Birth story
8/27/2025
I got the call at 7:30am, just as I was pulling into work.
Mama had been laboring since 2:00am, contractions strong enough now that sleep was no longer an option.
Something in me knew…this baby wasn’t waiting around.
I turned right back around, left work behind, and headed straight to the birth center.
By the time I arrived, the room felt like it was holding its breath in anticipation.
Mama and dad walked in at 8:30am, steady and ready.
We settled into the birth suite, checked on baby…Ellie sounded absolutely perfect.
But it wasn’t the doppler that told me where we were.
It was mama.
The sounds she was making, the way her body was moving, the quiet intensity in her eyes…
I gently looked at her and said,
“You’re in transition, mama.”
And sure enough, she was already 7cm.
No hesitation. No doubt. Just surrender.
We labored standing for a bit while the tub filled, letting her body lead the way.
Then she slipped into the water, and everything softened into something almost sacred.
Worship music filled the room.
Her mom stayed close, whispering affirmations like a steady heartbeat beside her.
And the presence of the Holy Spirit…
It wasn’t subtle.
It was thick, undeniable, wrapping around that room like a covering.
You could feel it
Just before 9:30, Ellie began to crown.
And in the most beautiful, intentional way…mama didn’t rush her.
She let her baby come exactly how she needed to.
Ellie Mae emerged gently, still tucked inside her waters,
until the very moment she crowned fully and the sac released.
At 9:34am, she was born.
Dad reached out and caught his daughter,
lifting her straight to mama’s chest where she belonged all along.
No rush. No interruption. Just awe.
They waited until her cord turned white, honoring every last pulse meant just for her, and then dad cut the cord.
He held his baby skin to skin while mama finished her work,
and soon after, they were all tucked into bed together.
Quiet. Whole. Complete.
Their golden hour felt like time had been paused just for them.
Ellie Mae weighed 7 lbs 12 oz.
Perfect in every way.
And I left that room knowing I had just witnessed something far beyond birth…
It was holy.
